Disruptive Behavior Inside the Classroom

Faculty have the responsibility to manage classroom behavior. If a student’s disruptive behavior interferes with instruction or creates an environment that is disturbing to classmates, a faculty member has the responsibility to address the issue. If the situation escalates or becomes threatening or intimidating, direct the student to leave the classroom. If the student refuses, use your judgment to adjourn class early and/or call the UL Lafayette Police Department at 337-482-6449.

After a student is requested to cease disruptive behavior, a faculty member may direct the student to leave the current class meeting. A faculty member may not preclude a student from attending future class meetings, absent a referral to the Office of Student Rights & Responsibilities.
